Our Vision and Values

At Combs Ford Primary School, we want every child to feel valued, supported and inspired to achieve their very best. We believe that children learn best when they feel they belong, are encouraged to be ambitious, and have opportunities to explore the world around them.

Our vision is to create a school where children develop the knowledge, skills and confidence they need for the future, while also growing into kind, respectful and responsible members of their community. Through exciting learning experiences, strong relationships and a rich variety of opportunities, we help every child discover their strengths and reach their potential.

Everything we do is guided by our four core values:

Respect

We treat each other with kindness, honesty and consideration. We encourage children to value different viewpoints, celebrate individuality and show respect for themselves, others and the world around them. Whilst there is a high expectation for this value to be demonstrated in all aspects of school life, we explicitly teach and model this through our assemblies, PSHE lessons and PE lessons.

Community

We are proud to be part of a strong school community. By working closely with families, local organisations and the wider community, we help children understand the importance of belonging, helping others and making a positive difference. We are passionate about using our local community to enhance our curriculum offer with regular trips and visits that also link to local projects.

Ambition

We encourage all children to aim high and believe in themselves. We want our pupils to be curious, resilient and willing to embrace challenges, knowing that effort and determination help us grow and succeed. We want our pupils to be responsible citizens, confident individuals and successful learners.

Inclusion

Everyone is welcome at Combs Ford Primary School. We celebrate diversity and ensure every child feels seen, heard and supported. We believe that our differences make us stronger and enrich our school community.

Our values are supported further by our Combs Code.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

At Combs Ford Primary School, we know that learning is most meaningful when children can make connections between what they learn in school and the world around them. That is why we place great importance on interconnected learning and community-based experiences through the support of our Combs Connections.

Alongside our broad and balanced curriculum, we provide opportunities for children to explore a wide range of cultures, traditions and perspectives. Through educational visits, visitors, community projects, performances, sporting events and enrichment activities, children gain experiences that broaden their horizons and deepen their understanding of the world.

These opportunities help our pupils develop curiosity, empathy and confidence while building an appreciation of both their local community and the diverse world beyond it.

Bringing Our Vision to Life Through Our Curriculum

Our Curriculum is designed to give every child the knowledge, experiences and opportunities they need to flourish.

Through our curriculum, we aim to:

  • Embed our values of Respect, Community, Ambition and Inclusion in everyday school life.
  • Provide a broad, balanced and engaging curriculum that inspires children to love learning.
  • Help children make meaningful links between subjects, experiences and the world around them.
  • Offer a rich range of cultural, creative, sporting and academic enrichment opportunities.
  • Build strong partnerships with families and the wider community.
  • Celebrate diversity and ensure all children feel represented and valued.
  • Raise aspirations by exposing children to new experiences, possibilities and role models.
  • Develop confident, caring and responsible citizens who are ready for their next stage of education and life.

At Combs Ford Primary School, we want every child to leave us with wonderful memories, a love of learning, confidence in themselves, and the ambition to make a positive difference in the world.

As a school that respects the rights of the children and adults in our school family, community and beyond, it is important that our vision adheres to articles from UNICEF’s Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC):

  • Article 2: We have the right to be treated equally (no discrimination).
  • Article 3: We have the right to decisions being made in our best interests.
  • Article 12: We have the right have our views respected.
  • Article 13: We have the right to share our thoughts freely.
  • Article 19: We have the right to be protected from violence.
  • Article 24: We have the right to the best health possible.
  • Article 28: We have the right to education.
  • Article 31: We have the right to play and relax by doing things we like.
