Supporting Looked After Children
Some children are looked after either on a permanent basis or as a temporary arrangement.
In these circumstances the local authority, Suffolk County Council, will assign a case worker for the child.
The case worker and the school will work together with the appointed carers to support the child in the following ways:
- Regular review meetings, looking at 'the big picture' of how the child is being supported both by the school and by the carers
- Regular reviews of their progress as school, through the creation and regular updating of a Pupil Education Plan (P.E.P)
If a Looked After Child (LAC) also has additional needs, such as SEN, then they will automatically be supported for these as would any other child - please see the other pages here for further information.
